The book “The Problem of Development and Oil Wealth in the Saudi Economy” by Dr. Majid Al-Manifif, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, was published by Dar Al-Gharif at the end of 2021. The book falls on 511 pages, covered by three main sections, with 10 interrelated chapters reviewing Saudi Arabia’s economic development before and after oil, addressing the lessons of periods of surge and recession, and evaluating the development and distribution policies adopted over the past half century. In general, the book aims to analyze the transformation of the Saudi economy, addressing the period from the pre-oil years, its poverty and isolation, and then moving to a period of growing oil wealth, accelerated development rates and the emergence of a new form of welfare state.
